Mobile Cell Phone Transmitter Mast Health Risk
What are the health risks, from both mobile cell phones and transmitter masts?
There are no rigorous studies to confirm such fears, however, most European consumers are convinced that the terminals may pose a health risk
4,500 citizens from the United Kingdom, France, Germany and Spain, have participated in an investigation initiated by the company Exradia to know what is the opinion of those on the impact of mobile technology on people's health.
The results of the study Exradia determined that 83% of Europeans believe that the mobile phone use in the long term may harm their health. 87% of French people do not know these risks, followed by 86% of British, 81% of Germans and 78% of Spaniards. Everything in this, the 67% of Germans declaring unaware that the continuous exposure to electromagnetic radiation contributes to the development of diseases like cancer. In addition, 55% of Spanish and 56% of French admit that they are not aware of the danger of the use of mobile phones.
Another of the discoveries of the study is that 4% of Europeans know someone who suffers from a serious health problem due, in their opinion, to continuous unprotected exposure to electromagnetic fields.
Studies, some in favour, others against add to the controversy between advocates and opponents of telephony have been triggered after the absence of evidence on the safety of exposure to electromagneticism. Furthermore, this factor binds to the need to regulate levels and exposure limits for the protection of health and collects the International Commission for Protection Non-Ionizing Radiation (ICNIRP), WHO and the Council of the European Union.
At present, there are no studies that show the long term effects of electromagnetic radiation, however, have been scientifically proven biological effects on health. Examples of these effects are as follows.....
Effects on calcium ions, enzymes, DNA, cell proliferation and effects on genes. Many scientists are examining the contribution of these effects in the development of diseases like cancer, Parkinson's and Alzheimer's.
Yet there is no study accepted by the scientific community attesting that such ailments are the result of exposure to mobile phone radiation, which makes it difficult for the authorities to take action to protect consumers. As a consquence, Europeans are demanding more information from their governing bodies
The lack of a scientific accreditation should present no obstacles to the various European Departments who are responsible to inform and protect their residents. In this regard, the study Exradia reveals that 97% of Spaniards responsible to the Government for failing to provide adequate information about the negative impact of electromagnetic waves.
In addition, 93% of French and 91% of Germans confirm that there is a distinct lack of knowledge, followed by 86% of British expressing dissatisfaction with the amount of information from their government.
Because of the scarcity of information to citizens regarding exposure to harmful radiation and health risks, 96% of Spaniards urged the Government to carry out more research on the potential risks and to increase relevant preventive measures for the protection of citizens. In addition people from France, the UK and Germany are demanding more attention on this public health issue.
